Revengeance Press Release

King of Indie Animation Bill Plympton Teams with Jim Lujan for New Feature Film

New York, NY, December 12, 2013 --(
Oscar nominated independent animator Bill Plympton ("Your Face", "Simpsons", "Idiots and Angels", "Cheatin") teams with underground animated filmmaker Jim Lujan ("Sanjourno Must Die", "Freakdaddy", “Spike and Mike”) for the upcoming feature-length animated film "Revengeance". Plympton will draw, animate, and produce the film, while Lujan will write, design, and voice many of the characters himself.

"Revengeance" is described as a "Tarantino-esque biker revenge dark comedy", and has entered pre-production based on the screenplay by Lujan.

What fans of Indie Animation can expect from this partnership is the blending of Plympton’s Internationally acclaimed hand-drawn surrealism with Lujan’s wry sense of well-developed characters in a tightly written narrative by Lujan. Says Plympton “I’ve been pushing the boundaries of hand-drawn animation but wanted to delve deeper into traditional story, but with that ‘edge’ that people miss with today’s formula plot lines.”

Plympton is also Executive Producer of the developing feature Magnum Farce by Ken Mora's Bella Fe Films, signaling a push from Plympton to give rise to more Indie Animation choices at the box office. Lujan, winner of the “Plympton Award for Indie Animation” last year continues to entertain fans on Titmouse’s Rugburn Channel in the YouTube serialized adventure Sanjourno Must Die and the upcoming television series "Masterfreak Theatre".

Says Lujan “Working with Bill Plympton is a mind-blowing honor. Both of us bring something complimentary and interesting to the table.” Says Plympton “Jim is one of the cleverest writers and character developers I’ve seen in years, and I love the energy, drive and humor he brings to the partnership."

Plympton and Lujan will be previewing work in progress at 2014 San Diego Comicon booth 1537. At Comicon, Plympton and Lujan will reside in what is evolving into an ‘Animation Alley’ - a neighborhood of animation including Annie Award winning Spike and Mike, Animation Magazine, Bella Fe Films, Muybridge Animation International, and ASIFA Hollywood - producers of the Annie Awards.

A short animated piece I did for the "Ride with El Rey" promotion. El Rey is Robert Rodriguez's cable channel. Very exciting! They asked for people to create their own promos featuring the " I ride with El Rey" tagline. Who knows....maybe you will one day see a show on that channel by yours truly!

Last night my film PRINCE OF POMONA won best film at the 4th annual 909 Film Festival. I wasn't able to attend in person, my good friend Lonnie Millsap accepted the award for me. Does that mean I'm so big I can send people to accept awards for me now??  No, I was actually at a fundraiser for Children's Cancer. Now THAT is a good reason to miss!  Seriously, THANK YOU to everyone that attended and thank you to event organizer Eddie Gonzalez for creating such an outstanding event to promote filmmakers EAST of Hollywood!

Lonnie Accepts the GNOMIE for me.

Great Sanjourno review: 9.5 out of 10!

Sanjourno postcard

John over at (a site that reviews animation). gave SANJOURNO MUST DIE a gowing review. Wow! He really put into words what I try to convey. Please God, make all reviews this FREAKIN COOL! :) I am humbled.  Go to and check out lots of cool animation stuff, especially Adult Swim type stuff.

Sanjourno Must Die! creator Jim Lujan has been doing this gig for a while voicing and creating cartoons for a number of years so it’s no surprise that his new series is pretty damn good. Laden with an artisan twist  that animation fans of Bill Plympton would find soothing, we start off Sanjourno’s tale a little bit like the film Goodfellas where a bunch of gangsters are driving in a car and there’s a mysterious aura in the air. You really don’t know what it is until what you are watching takes you back in time a little bit and tells you why your hero is in the situation that he is in. And yes, just in case if you are wondering I am comparing this to a Scorsese flick and I should because this tale is just as gritty and unsettling but with a sarcastic brush definitely put on notice.

This could be Rug Burn’s best series…

9.5 out of 10
